He was predeceased by: his parents, John S. Ferguson and Nora Langley Ferguson; his son John Gregory Ferguson; and his brother Larry Ferguson. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Conley Ferguson of Kenova, WV; his son James "Jim" (Nancy Ferguson); his granddaughter Avery Ferguson; his niece Sonja Money (Don); his cousin Morgan Ferguson (Kelly); his caregiver Missy; and his cousin Aldon Ferguson.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Kenova (1120 Poplar St, Kenova, WV 25530). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
