She was predeceased by: her parents, Ida Gertrude Barnhart and Wilbert Kerns; her husband Virgil F. Smith; her granddaughter Heather Anderson; and her siblings, Melvin Kerns, Albert Kerns, David Neil Kerns, Anna Isabelle Keefer, Irene Kerns, Aurilla Kerns and Katherine Bowers.
She is survived by: her son Ricky Kerns (Karen) of Martinsburg, WV; her grandchildren, April Kennedy (Timothy) of Hagerstown, Brandon Kerns of Warfordsburg, PA and Roman Shirley of Martinsburg, WV; her great grandchildren, Corrie Kennedy of Hagerstown, MD, Lauryn Kennedy of Hagerstown, MD, Gabrielle Kennedy of Hagerstown, MD and Timothy Kennedy II of Hagerstown, MD; and her sister Janet May Deneen of Hagerstown, MD..
