He is survived by: his children, Col. Robert A. Combs Jr. (Merissa) of Harrisburg, NC, Eric M. Combs (Tammy) of Harrisburg, NC and Connie Hodges (Tee) of Concord, NC; and his siblings, Billy Combs (Jackie), Nancy Cook (Ed), Norma Bibb, Betty Basham of Jumping Branch, David Combs of Coal City, Donnie Combs, Greg Combs (Vicky), Scottie Combs (Carla) of Brandywine and Judy Puckett (Jim). He is also survived by close friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
