He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richard Thomas Newsome of Shady Spring and Helen Leishman Newsome of Virginia; his wife Mary Newsome; his children, Richard Boda Newsome, Olivia Denise Rose (Jamie) and Rebecca Lynn Newsome (Derek Dooley); his grandchildren, Eli, Dawson, Easton Rose and Brooks Dooley; his siblings, Robert Thomas Newsome (Brenda) and Regina Irene Newsome; and his mother-in-law Erma Meadows.
