He is survived by: his wife Donna Benefield Smith; his sons, William Dean Smith (Marsha) of Cumberland, MD and Christopher Allen Smith of Ocean City, MD; his grandchildren, Mylan, Calee, Aylin, William, Noah, Ethan and Dalton; his siblings, Ricky Hicks (Ruby) of Bradshaw, Cecil Nelson Smith of Kannapolis, NC, Patricia Sue Addair of Winston Salem and Wilma Riffe of Asheboro, NC; his sister-in-law Linda Barton of Indiana; and his nieces, Tina Ann Phillips and Latasha Lynn Bailey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
