He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Ann Taylor Dever; his parents, Robert Franklin Dever and Edith Frances Riffle; his grandson Billy Joe Dever II; his great grandchildren, Tanner and Tucker Toms; and his siblings, Juanita Linder, Woody Powers and Granville Lee Dever.
He is survived by: his children, Billy Joe Dever (Doris) and Frances Postalwait (Kevin); his grandchildren, Eric Dever of Weston, Danny Dever (Cindy) of Weston, Jamie Dever (Laura) of Weston, Tony Toms (Lisa) of Weston, Chad Toms of Weston, Anna Stump (Charlie) of Weston and Alisha Jones of Weston; his sisters, Phyllis Hodges (Jim) of Reedsville and Sharon Butcher of Weston; and his friend Mamie Edenton. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
