He is survived by: his mother Lillian Pamela Brown Holt of Weston; his children, Catlin Bates (Brandon Parks) of Buckhannon, Ella Ruckman of Nutter Fort and Dora Bates of Nutter Fort; and his siblings, Damian Bates of Kentucky, Amanda Belt (Scott) of Weston, Gordon Bates (Nina) of Bad Kreuznach, Germany, Paul Bates (Julie) of California and Melanie Holt of Weston.
