He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Francis Tierney, Sr. and Gertrude Foley Tierney; his granddaughter Emily Grace Tierney; and his siblings, Gertrude Judith Beeson (Larry), Catherine Russell Sleeth (Ted), Ellen Myers (Dale), Colette Danek (George), Marjorie Anne Graves (Turner), Mary Patricia Proctor (Steve), James Edward Tierney (Jane), Nicholas J. Tierney and David Tierney.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Hyre Tierney; his sons, Michael F. Tierney III of Gee Lick and Chadley J. Tierney (Wendelin "Wendy" Cole); his granddaughter Madison Faith Tierney of Fairmont; and his sisters-in-law, Martha Tierney of Clarksburg and Carol Tierney. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
