He was predeceased by: his parents, Stokes N. Gaston and Dorotha Gaston (Ramsburg); his wife Emmagene Gaston (Warner); and his brothers, William "Jack" Gaston and Buddy Gaston.
He is survived by: his children, Terry Small (Mike) of Jane Lew and James R. "Rick" Gaston, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Jennifer Owen (Landon) of Johnson City, TN, James R. "Jarid" Gaston (Angie) of Fairmont and Christy Hughes (John) of Weston; his great grandchildren, Anderson "AJ" Owen, Adeline "Addie" Owen, Aubrey Gaston, Brittan Walker and Noah Hughes; and his great great grandchild Belle Walker. He is also survived by his wife and kids and many camping friends.
