He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee and Rebecca Taylor Merriner; his wife Joan C. Plum Merriner; his children, Regina Ann Seamon and Gerald Edward Merriner, II; and his siblings, Junior, Ancel, Charles, Wilbur, Harold and Virginia Fowler.
He is survived by: his children, John Lee Merriner (Penny) of Winchester, VA, Shelley Jo Matheny (Ron) of Clarksburg and Amy Rebecca McKee (Mike) of Weston; his siblings, James Merriner and Betty Merriner; and his friends, Curtis Smith, Pat Casey, Arden Lynn Skidmore and Fred Sumpter. He is also survived by six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
