With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Alice Garton (Jane Lew, West Virginia), born in Weston, West Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Whelan and Jane Brannon Whelan; her brothers, Tom Whelan (Peggy) and George Whelan; her sister-in-law Judy Whelan (Rinehart); her nephew Stephen Whelan; and her parents-in-law, Opal and Charlie Garton.
She is survived by: her husband Scott Garton; her brother Frank Whelan of San Marcos, TX; her siblings-in-law, Greg Garton of Punto Gordo, FL, Kathy Whelan of Weston, Deborah Garton (Fred Butler) of Bluefield and Melissa Allison (Rusty) of Weston; her nieces and nephews, Lisa Young (Andy), Sandra Snead, Laura Whelan, Tommy Whelan (Alissa), Elizabeth McDonald, Barbara Keller (Jim), Kathy Thompson, Karen Wehman (Scott), Seth Wilson (Allison), Leigh Anne Wilson, Field Garton and Lindsay Wolquist (Matt); her cousin Lynne Yoe (Charlie) of Baltimore, MD; and her friend Karen Ralston of Weston. She is also survived by mother to her three brothers.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service (144 Hackers Creek Rd, Jane Lew, WV 26378). A rosary was held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, October 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (210 Center Ave, Weston, WV 26452).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made in Janie's honor to St. Patrick Elementary School: 224 Center Avenue, Weston, WV 26452, or WVU Medicine Hospice: 2673 Davisson Run Road, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
