We are sad to announce that on April 27, 2021, at the age of 88, Josie Matney (Iaeger, West Virginia), born in Raysal, West Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Short and Martha Kennedy Short; her husband Charlie Matney; her son Ralph Matney; her stepchildren, Albert Matney, Ulysis Matney, Henry Matney and Lucille Keen; her grandson Lewis Short Jr. (Louie); her siblings, Mike Short, Noah Short (Doc), James Short (Jim), Alice Short, Bookie Puckett, Dora Cook, Lillian Atwell, Mary Walls, Orpha Atwell and Laura Baker; and her son-in-law Roy Earl Pruitt.
She is survived by: her children, Benny Matney (Ruthie) of Bradshaw, William Matney of Atwell, Charles Matney (Barbara) of Atwell, Lum Matney (Anna) of Justice, Crockett Matney (Sherry) of Atwell, Dorothy Short (Lewis) of Atwell, Orpha Hicks (Junior) of Atwell, Linda Blevins (Irving) of Atwell, Deborah Stacy (Teddy) of Raysal and Melena Grizzel (Jeff) of Jolo; her brother John Short (Sharon) of Atwell; and her sister-in-law Lorene Short. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, mask are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced.
