Though Walter may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Walter touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Mattson and Esther Carlson Mattson. He is survived by: his wife Janet Zimnick Mattson of Huntington, WV; his daughters, Gwen Irby (Doug) and Lisa Sifford (Ray); and his grandchildren, Parker, Carson, Conner and Molly.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church (103 Jefferson Park Dr, Huntington, WV 25705). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Walter's honor to Huntington Habitat for Humanity or Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church.
