He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvin Smith and Maggie Smith; his daughter Ann Young; his grandson Joshua Gillum; and his siblings, Elwood Smith, Hurston Smith, Bobby Smith, Tommy Smith (Junior Smith), Virginia Taylor, Dixie Sturgel and Patty Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Angie Gillum, Chrissy Blackwelder, Tammy Acord, Kim Terpening, Ronnie Smith and Donnie Smith Jr.; his sisters, Wanda Faye Smith and Linda Lewis; and his grandchildren, Keller, Annalise, Kayli (Kyle), Bekka, Brandon (Taylor), Zach, Whitney (Jacob), Dustin (Haley), Dylan (Madison), Alyssa, Derick, Josh and Nathan (Haiden). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
