He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Burdette and Lillian Ruth Cales Burdette; and his sister Linda Kothe. He is survived by: his wife Linda Mae Grimmett Burdette; his sons, William D. "Billy" Burdette (April) of Kernersville, NC and Adam C. Burdette (Amanda) of High Rock, NC; his grandchildren, Allison, Andrew Cary and Ava Mae Burdette; his siblings, David Burdette of Hinton, Peter Michael Burdette (Sharon) of Grassy Meadows, Betty Tincher (Larry) of Big Creek and Judy Orphey of Big Creek; his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Stone of Connecticut and Griffin Stone of Hinton; his stepgreat-granddaughters, Sophia and Luna Stone; and his half-sister Jan Kearney of Florida.
