He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Cales and Ocie Mae Adkins Cales; his wife Phyllis Jane Ward Cales; and his siblings, Wanda Ward, Jerry Cales, Ethel Cales and Ralph Cales.
He is survived by: his daughter Priscilla Cales McGraw (Stewart) of Chestnut Mountain; his grandson Allen McGraw of Chestnut Mountain; and his siblings, Bonnie Rhoads (James) of Gate City, VA, Peggy Walton of Chestnut Mountain, Decredia Cales of Chestnut Mountain and Teresa Johnson (Bart) of Daniels. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
