He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Nelson and Helen Vance Nelson; his former wife Hilda Faye Nelson; his son Jamie Edgar Nelson; and his stepdaughter Kimberly Adkins.
He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Sue Mills Nelson; his son Jerry Nelson (Angie); his stepsons, Earl Ray Adkins and Donald Ray Adkins (Elizabeth) of Wayne, WV; his sister Verlie Nelson Morris of Fort Gay, WV; and his grandson Jay Nelson (Whitley). He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and additional family and friends.
