He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Pierce and Bessie Grey Boggs Simmons; his son Ronald Ray "Ronnie" Simmons; his grandsons, Matthew Erick Simmons and Ronald Ray "Bud" Simmons II; and his siblings, Roy, Paul, Jordan and Anita Rose.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Rose Simmons; his son Robert "Bob" Gray Simmons (Heather) of Marlinton; his stepson Andrew Pritt of Hillsboro; and his grandchildren, Michelle, Hilary, Michael and Stephen. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made to the Hillsboro Fire Department.
