He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Zimmerman and Mary E. Gleason-Zimmerman; and his brother John W. Zimmerman Jr.. He is survived by: his daughter Stephanie Stevens-Smith (Jeremy Smith); and his grandchildren, Taylor Stevens and Ryan Stevens (Rose Dalton).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation in David's name to the American Legion Post 32, 1708 S Kanawha St. Beckley, WV 25801.
