He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ernest McDonald and Dorothy Vivian McDonald (Pitzer); and his siblings, James Kenneth McDonald, William D. McDonald, Ernest F. McDonald and Johanna McDonald.
He is survived by: his wife Trilby Marie McDonald (Smith); his children, C. Dean McDonald, Jr. (Beverly) and Robin F. Stevens; and his siblings, Stewart McDonald (Willa) and Alice E. Cogle (Jerry). He is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
