She was predeceased by: her parent Hershel Perry; her husband Ernest Clayton Burns; her daughter Linda Curry; and her siblings, Perry Sowards and Sybil Adkins.

She is survived by: her parent Mattie Rosilie Sowards (Galloway); her children, Ernest Burns Jr (Brenda), Wanda Burns, Lawson Burns of Proctorville and Patty Burns (David McCoy) of West Hamlin, W. V; her brother Wayne Sowards (Shella) of Sumerco, W. V; her grandchildren, Phyllis Curry, Sandy Swan, Elizabeth Hager, Chuck Curry, Jill Adkins, Greg Lawson, David Lawson, Susan Bowen, Sara Clayborne and Mary Napier; and also, Inverness, Rushell Blackwell and Clyde Ray. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
