He is survived by: his wife Carole Martin Bates of West Hamlin; his children, Kelli Harries (Paul) of Lexington and Loren Keith Bates (Kerry) of Branchland; his grandchildren, Grant, Victoria, Gabriel Bates of Branchland, Rachel, Megan and Lauren Harries of Lexington, KY; and his nephew Douglas Cline Bates (Mary).
