He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell A. Mason and Armittie A. Collett Mason; his son William "Billy" Knotts; and his siblings, Eugene Sponaugle, Allen "Hambone" Mason, Martha Whetzel and Lucy Tingler.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Jean Helmick Mason; his children, Burl "Junior" Mason and Peggy Bonner; his siblings, Lewis Sponaugle (Reva) of Inwood, Greg Mason, Brian "Butch" Sponaugle, Jr. (Dottie) of Pifer Mountain, Patsy Stone, Naomi Lambert of Mabie, Wilda Sponaugle and Lulabelle Hardy of Hambleton; his grandchildren, Jennifer Bush, Jeff Bonner, Autumn Bonner, Cameron Knotts and Paige Plotts; and also Besides. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
