He was predeceased by: his parent Ulysses McKinley; his wife Mary Louise Wilt Laxton; and his brother Ulysses Laxton of North Carolina. He is survived by: his parent Cora May King Laxton; his children, Jessica Ratliff of Glenville and Danny Laxton, Jr. of Pierpont; and his stepchildren, Jennifer Rogers of Evans and Steven McGinnis of Amma. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
