He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Gray and Thelma Kelso Gray; and his siblings, Charles "Roger" Gray, Richard Alvin Gray, James "Spike" Gray and Deborah Gray.
He is survived by: his wife Velma Boyles Gray; his children, Cheryl Weaver (Bobby), Russell Gray, II of Grafton and Tina Gray of Huntington; his grandchildren, Skylar Dayne Rucker (Siera Gabbert) of Grafton and Ben Rucker (Devin) of Grafton; and his siblings, Lenora Jean Tacy of Grafton, Linda Markley of Grafton and Michael Gray (Gloria). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
