He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie VanBuren and Josephine Collins Watkins; his wife Shelby Jean Sapp Watkins; and his siblings, Shirley Weaver, Minnie Jenkins, Betty List, Mary Auvil, Lonnie Watkins, Manfred Watkins, Gene Watkins, Dale Watkins and Ralph Waldo Watkins.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Jean Poling (Mikael) and James Paul Watkins (JoAnna); his grandchildren, Korey (Samantha), Elizabeth, Jennifer, James "Mikey" (Teala), Kodey (Jennifer) and Jessica; his great grandchildren, Noah, Evan, Lydiah, Rory, Solomon, Addison, Katherine, Kohen, Emma, Zachary, Lillian, Caspian of Timothy and Cian; and his sisters, Juanita Wyatt and Wilma Larew. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bartlett Funeral Home (202 Mc Graw Ave, Grafton, WV 26354). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
