He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis F. Moats and Eva G. Moats (Shingelton); his former wife Rose Mary Moats (Knotts); and his daughter-in-law Tammy Gunnoe-Moats. He is survived by: his wife Dottie Lou Moats (Weaver); his children, Sheila M. Brown (James), Alan D. Moats (Connie) of Grafton, Timothy G. "Tim" Moats (Pam) of Grafton and Ronald M. Moats (Patricia) of Charleston, WV; his stepchildren, Pam Gallaher (Jim) of Grafton and Steve Watkins of Grafton; his grandchildren, Stephanie Wilde, Laura Brown, Christian Brown, Emily Valenti, Allison Raice, James Brown, Jonathan Brown, Amy Moats, Alan D. Moats, Jr., Sara Moats, Ryan Moats and Mackenzie Tillery; his stepgrandchildren, Jason Gallaher, Jenny McCarthy, Erin Gallaher and Cameron Gallaher; and his brother Lewis D. Moats of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
