It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leonard W. Shaffer Sr. of Gormania, West Virginia, who passed away on December 18, 2022, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Woodrow Shaffer and Gertrude Pauline Shaffer (Sell); his wife Peggy Anne Shaffer (Sestak); his children-in-law, Michael Fern and Sue Rasmussen; and his sisters, Jane Hebb, Letha Helmick, Vera White, Geraldine Arnold and Patsy Mikles.
He is survived by: his brothers, Joe Shaffer and Guy Shaffer; his children, Leonard W. Shaffer, Jr. of Gormania, WV, Michael Shaffer (Carissa) of Middlefield, Ohio and Michelle Shaffer Fern of Painesville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Tony Griggs, Tina Shaffer, Leonard W. Shaffer III (Ashley), Melissa Goldizen (Ryan), Jesse Shaffer, Jaramie Shaffer (Abby) and Andrea Banschenbach; his great grandchildren, Timmy Kemphfer, Camren Kemphfer, Hunter Shaffer, Isaiah Goldizen, Ella Shaffer, Ashton Shaffer, Jackson Banschenbach, Elijah Goldizen and Rachel Banschenbach; and his sisters, Carolyn Spencer of Horseshoe Run, WV and Alta Minnick of Mt. Storm, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
