He was predeceased by: his parents, David Poling and Orpha Schoolcraft Poling; his wife Virginia Hicks Poling; his granddaughter Shelia Poling; and his siblings, Guy Poling, Murl Pall, Marble Marks, Orla Marks and Ernestine Gregory.

He is survived by: his children, Tim Poling of Millstone, WV, Carolyn Poling of Grantsville, WV and Richard Poling of Millstone; and his grandsons, Greg Missy and Mike Cain. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
