He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris B. Messenger and Lucille Frazier Messenger; his spouse Maryceedith Stewart Messenger; and his brothers, William Berle "Bill" Messenger, Sr. and Robert L. Messenger.
He is survived by: his son John T Messenger; his granddaughter Ashley N. Gerlach; his great grandchild Ashton G; and his sisters, Jane Givens of Rockford and Jean Shaver of Rockford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
