He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard McKinney and Elsie May Parkinson McKinney; his grandson Matthew Stephen McKinney; his great grandchild Autumn Rose McKinney; and his siblings, Jack McKinney, Dave McKinney, Leonard "Bud" McKinney and Ruby Parsons.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Butts McKinney; his children, Brian McKinney (Angela), Richard McKinney, Jr. (Cindy), Jeffery McKinney (Tiffany), Matthew McKinney (Melissa) and Brigette LeMaster (Chris); and his sisters, Virginia Hutzler, Wanda Morrison, Mary Parsons and Linda Parsons. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
