He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Albert and Florence Amelia Bender Hess; his children, Albert Chester Hess, Jr., Sandra Louise Hess and Robert M. Hess; and his siblings, Edgar B. Hess, Anne Wise, Anita J. Bauer and Ramona Smith.
He is survived by: the mother of his children Sandra K. Pritchard of Florida; his children, Edgar M. Hess (Yvonne) of Hedgesville, Debbie A. Benner (Jake) of Gerrardstown and Robin H. Santmier (Rick) of Martinsburg; his sister Pauline Hess Ellis of Martinsburg; his grandchildren, Wes Hess, Jason Hess, Jessica Sutton, Bobby Parker, Jen Clapsaddle, Chris Parker, Matt Santmier, Megan Santmier, Randall Hess and Shawn Hess; and his great grandchildren, Solomon, Jada, Jude, Angelique, Vanessa, Carly, Josh, Logan, Khloe, Trin, Kiki, Garrett, Gavin, Gage, Liliana, Nyla and Isaac. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
