He was predeceased by: his father Nebert Nelson; his wives, Vivian Block Porter, Judy King Porter and Mary A. Copley Porter; his daughter Elizabeth Ann Porter; and his brother Robert Porter.
He is survived by: his son Jeremiah Porter; his grandson Ronnie Porter; and his siblings, Ernestine Griffith (Guy) and Jonathan Porter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
