He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Neal; his son Walter Asbury Jr.; and his stepdaughter Fadra Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Ella McMillion Asbury; his children, Phyllis Asbury of New Haven and Sarha Johnson of Reedy; his stepchildren, Bryn McMillion of Gauley Bridge and Bill Johnston of Ashboro, NC; and his sister Donna Gunnoe of Dixie. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
