He is survived by: his brothers, Earl Brent, Sebert Franklin and Christopher Skeens; his wife Charlotte Meadows Skeens of Gassaway; his sons, Herbert M. Skeens Jr. (Marcy) of Gassaway and Thomas Matthew Skeens (Marsha) of Gassaway; his siblings, Oshel A. and Gail Woodard (Bill) of Bryson City, NC; and his grandchildren, Hallea, Annie, Riley, Faith and Piper.
