She was predeceased by: her parents, Carrie Elizabeth and Charles Robert Shoemaker; her husband Charles Jewell, Sr.; her daughter Cheryl Jewell Flippo; and her siblings, John Shoemaker, Margaret Bowen, Bessie Chambers, Stella Yates and Frances Fritz.
She is survived by: her sister Joan Chambers of Elkton, MD; and her children, Charles Jewell, Jr. (Kay) of Edwardsville, IL, Anita Pratt (Eugene) of Monroe, NC, Pamela Jewell (Cathy Byerly), Gina Woods (Don) of Lexington, NC, Terry Jewell of Charlotte, NC, Rick Jewell (Teresa Johnson) and Steven Higginbotham (Tammy) of Harmony, NC. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
