He is survived by: his close friend Violet Thompson of Brandywine, WV; his children, Tammy Hess of Monterey, TN, Vicky Champ (Adam) of Franklin, WV, Jennifer Carper (Mike) of Fulks Run, VA, Megan Hess (Matthew Sheppard) of Richwood, WV and Anthony Hess (Brittany Harris) of Richwood, WV; his siblings, Linda Warner (Nathan) of Franklin, WV, Geneva Simmons (Donald) of Warrenton, VA, Ruth Skeins of Warrenton, VA, Treva Moats of Manassas, VA, Russell Mongold (Wanda) of Franklin, WV, Donald Mongold (Jill) of Berryville, VA and Ronald Mongold (Dorothy) of Ruther Glen, VA; his grandchildren, Deona Emmy Champ, Daniel Champ, Falon Fox, Hayley Freeman, Megan Queen, Michael Carper, Jr., Brooklyn Hess, Layla Sheppard, Armani Hess and Isaac Hess; and his great grandchild Charlotte Queen.
