He was predeceased by: his parents, John Preston and Virginia Kemper (Donelson); his spouse Shirley Faye Kemper (Hammer); his daughter Karen Lineweaver; and his stepbrother Gene Donelson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kathy Lockard (Guy Milstead) of Franklin, WV, Wanda Allaby of Struthers, OH and Mary Jordan of Petersburg, WV; his stepchildren, Terry Hammer (Emmett) of Linville, VA, Susan Jo Ash of Charleston, SC, Cindy Varner (Eugene) of Sugar Grove, WV and Kelly Hammer (Tammy) of Franklin, WV; and his brother James W. Kemper of Little Town, PA. He is also survived by grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
