He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Pinkney Bowers and Freida Bailey Bowers of Moyers; his sisters, Joyce Ann Bowers and Janet Harper; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Leatherman, Lucille Bowers and Otis Harper (Junior).
He is survived by: his wife Elsie Lee Bowers (Sponaugle); his children, Dr. Greg Bowers (Mary) of Franklin, WV, Dr. Clark Bowers (Joan) of Leesburg, VA and Sheri Coleman (Michael) of Springfield, WV; his brothers, James E. "Jim" Bowers of Sugar Grove, WV and Dr. Jack A. Bowers (Navy Dental Corp); his brothers-in-law, Gary Sponaugle (Linda) and Tom Leatherman; his grandchildren, Dr. Sarah Bowers, David Bowers (Chelsea), Bailey Coleman (Elliott Mihelic), Jonathon Coleman, Elleigh Coleman, Ashlee Bowers and Eric Bowers; and his great grandchildren, Rayah Lee and Myla Rae Bowers.
