He was predeceased by: his parents, George Osceola and Roma Hammer (Ruddle); and his siblings, George Ona Hammer, Dale Ruddle Hammer, Juanita Blanche Hammer and Neva Catherine Evick.
He is survived by: his wife Roxie Hammer (Landes); his son Gene Scott Hammer, Jr. (Sharon Ciccolella) of Moorefield, WV; his grandchildren, Gene Scott Hammer, III (Kristin Tuckerwiller) of Harrisonburg, VA and Toni Marie Hammer (Denny Ritchey) of Knoxville, TN; his great grandchildren, Tucker Scott Hammer and Leah Rose Ritchey; and his siblings, Ima Warner of Harrisonburg, VA, Orva Sponaugle (Dale) and John C.
