He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Merritt and Virginia Merritt (Riley); and his siblings, John and Sandra. He is survived by: his wife Mary Christine Merritt (Doll) of Franklin, WV.; his children, Thaddeus Merritt (Jill Anderson) of Medford, MA and Alicia Merritt Russell (Morgan) of Silver Spring, MD; his siblings, Glenn Merritt (Valeri) of Gulfport, MS and Melody Merritt of Denver, CO; and his granddaughters, Imogen Merritt and Teagan Russell.
