He was predeceased by: his parent John Bowers. He is survived by: his parent Julia Bennett Bowers; his spouse Catherine Hedrick Bowers; his daughter Carolyn Simmons; his sisters, Ruth Duty and Grace Kimble of Alexandria; his grandchildren, Cathy Bennett, Cheryl Ann McClanahan, Charles Sisson, Bethany King, Jennifer Harper and Tracy Kimble; and his sisters, Mildred Lantz, Retha Raines and Anna Simmons. He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
