He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. McCarty and Avis Lillian Hazelwood McCarty; and his brother Ricky Neal McCarty. He is survived by: his siblings, Drema Young (Marty) of Lexington, NC., Edith Scott (Craig) of Lexington, NC., Roger Dale McCarty (Tammy) of Hays, NC., Billy McCarty (Tracey) and Vickie Lawrence (Don) of Princeton, WV.; and his close friend Patrick Roberts. He is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
