He was predeceased by: his parent Dean Owen; his wife Geneva DeGarmo; his children, Raymond Owen DeGarmo and Teresa M. Knight; his sister Martha DeGarmo; and his stepsons, David White and Lenny Tredway. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
