He was predeceased by: his parents, Dominic James DeMaria and Dorothy Mae Bartley (Bulter); and his stepfather William Bartley (Patricia Anne DeMaria). He is survived by: his wife Sharlee Ann Jacobs DeMaria (McBride); his children, James W. DeMaria Jr., Denise Ann Lucas (AG), Kenny Jacobs (Angie), Tim Jacobs (Tina), Brian Jacobs (Amanda) and Scott Jacobs; and his brother William "Bill" S. Bartley of Robinson Twp, PA. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
