It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Aftanas (Follansbee, West Virginia), born in Avella, Pennsylvania, who passed away on April 14, 2018, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parent Jacob Tisik; her husband Chester Richard Aftanas; and her grandson Rudolph Carl Sovinski, III. She is survived by: her parent Mary Tisik (Schubenski); her daughter Cheryl Henthorn (Gary) of Follansbee, WV; her granddaughter Michelle Renee Hartman (Scott); her stepgrandson Christian Hartman of Beaver, PA; her siblings, Julia Tisik of Cross Creek, WV, Stella Vilga of Cross Creek, WV, Agnes Flasko (Albert) of Wellsburg, WV and George Tisik of Follansbee, WV; her stepgrandchildren, Gary Paul Henthorn of Follansbee, WV, Ryan McCullah (Amber) of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Tim McCaddon (Crystal) of Edgewater, FL; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Destiny Henthorn, Haley Henthorn, Tristan, Kierston, Ashlinn McCullah, Kayla, Shannon, Seth and Jamison McCaddon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
