He was predeceased by: his parents, George Painter and Ocie Aliff Painter; his wife Rita Painter; his son Bud Painter; and his brother Marty Painter.

He is survived by: his close friend Teresa "Peanut" Tincher; and his siblings, David Painter (Jan), Mary Davis (Alan) and Donna Painter.
