He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Journee Kay Hoover; and his siblings, Virginia Hoover, Dorothy Deibert, Jerrie Nicholas and Arthur "Bub" Hoover.

He is survived by: his children, George A. Hoover of Hagerstown, MD, Joshua L. Hoover of Falling Waters, WV, Brittany R. Hoover of Falling Waters, WV and Benjamin D. Hoover of Falling Waters, WV; his grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Jacob, Hailey, Samantha, Katelynn, Chyenne, Ciera, Zack and Owen; his great grandchildren, Makayla, Blake, Adalynn, Cainen, Lucas and Oliver; and his sisters, Rose McDonald of Hagerstown, MD and Mary Warrenfeltz of Hagerstown, MD..
