He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles O. Engel and Nellie Meadows Engel; and his sister Mary Katherine Engel Jones. He is survived by: his wife Dessa Kathleen Young Engel; and his sons, John Daniel Engel of Gassaway and David Samuel Engel of Gassaway. He is also survived by three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
