He was predeceased by: his parents, Ova Carpenter and Sarah Cochran Carpenter; his wife Pamela LaMont Carpenter; his daughter Stacy Carpenter Nichols; and his siblings, Barbara (Kenneth Nicholson) and Thomas (Ann Carpenter).
He is survived by: his close friend Janet Mundell; his son Daniel (Tonya Carpenter) of Clarksville, TN; his grandchildren, Rhett Nichols of Fairmont and Alexandria "Ali" Nichols of Fairmont; and his siblings, Carolyn (Robert Lewis) of Shalllotte, NC and Ronald (Joy Carpenter) of Windsor, CO. He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews.
